Not only was he a true legend of Polish cinema and one of the co-creators of its international reputation (<strong>Andrzej Wajda\u2019s<\/strong> <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">The Wedding<\/span><\/em> and <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>The Promised Land<\/em><\/span>, <strong>Wojciech Jerzy Has\u2019s<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>The Hourglass Sanatorium<\/em><\/span>, <strong>Roman Pola\u0144ski\u2019s<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Frantic<\/em><\/span>, and many, many more), but also a wonderful pedagogue who inspired a few generations of students to express their thoughts and dreams through the power of moving images.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Witold Soboci\u0144ski<\/strong> was also a dedicated friend of <strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival<\/strong> and had been taking part in this wonderful journey of ours from the festival\u2019s inception. We awarded him for the first time in 1994, and for the last time \u2013 just over a week ago, 10th November 2018, when he took the stage to receive this year\u2019s <strong>Camerimage Lifetime Achievement Award<\/strong>. Following the ceremony, he stayed in Bydgoszcz for a week, eagerly sharing his knowledge and passion with hundreds of the festival participants.<\/p>\n<p>When we said goodbye to him a few days ago, we were certain that we would see him during the subsequent edition of the Festival. And we will. For even if <strong>Witold Soboci\u0144ski<\/strong> shall not visit us in person, he will talk with you and us through the moving images to which he dedicated his professional life.
