On September 29, 2019, an agreement was signed at the Old Town Hall under which the European Film Center CAMERIMAGE<\/strong> is to be created in Toru\u0144<\/strong>. It will be the seat of a new, national cultural institution that will organize and co-finance the Camerimage Film Festival<\/strong> and other international film events. The agreement between the Polish state and Toru\u0144 self-government was signed by Piotr Gli\u0144ski, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and National Heritage<\/strong>, Micha\u0142 Zaleski, Mayor of Toru\u0144<\/strong> and Marek \u017bydowicz, President of the Tumult Foundation and creator of the Camerimage Festival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The investment will cost about PLN 600 million, of which two-thirds will be borne by the State Treasury, and the remaining funds will be provided by the Toru\u0144 Municipality. The agreement also regulates the issue of maintaining EFC Camerimage <\/strong>cultural institutions and co-financing the annual organization of the festival. The state subsidy for EFC activities is to amount to PLN 4 million per year. Toru\u0144 Municipality will contribute the same amount.<\/p>\n

– The European Film Center and organization of the Camerimage festival will change the perception of Toru\u0144 in the world. We already have the support of the best known film institutions and big names of world cinema. Representatives of the American and European Film Academy want to come to Toru\u0144 and take part in the EFC activities <\/em>– said Marek \u017bydowicz, the President of the Tumult Foundation and the creator of the Camerimage Festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n

According to the agreement, the building in which the European Film Center Camerimage <\/strong>will operate is to harmonize with the unique character of Toru\u0144’s old town and be distinguished by its unique architecture. To this end, an architectural design competition will be announced which will select the contractor for the project.<\/span><\/p>\n
