\n John lives with his partner, Eric, and their daughter, M\u00f3nica, in California, far from the traditional rural life he left behind years ago. John\u2019s father, Willis, a headstrong man from a bygone era, lives alone on the isolated farm where John grew up. Willis\u2019s mind is declining, so John brings him west, hoping that he and his sister, Sarah, can help their father find a home closer to them. Despite the success of The Lord of the Rings<\/span><\/em> trilogy, Viggo Mortensen<\/strong> has never felt comfortable in mainstream cinema. He always preferred to look for new and exciting directors to work with. Among his numerous projects one can thus find David Cronenberg’s<\/strong> A History of Violence<\/em><\/span>, Eastern Promises<\/em> <\/span>(Academy Award nomination\u00ae) and A Dangerous Method<\/em><\/span>, Walter Salles’s<\/strong> On the Road<\/span><\/em>, Lisandro Alonso’s<\/strong> Jauja<\/span><\/em>, Matt Ross’s<\/strong> Captain Fantastic<\/span><\/em> (Academy Award nomination\u00ae) and Peter Farrelly’s<\/strong> Green Book<\/em><\/span> (Academy Award nomination\u00ae). Falling<\/span><\/em>, which will screen as a part of EnergaCAMERIMAGE’s Main Competition<\/strong>, is Viggo Mortensen’s<\/strong> directorial debut.<\/p>\n Marcel Zyskind<\/strong> is one of the most interesting cinematographers who debuted in the 21st century. At the very beginning of his career as a cinematographer he found an artistic partner in distinguished British director Michael Winterbottom<\/strong>, and together they made a number of films, including In This World<\/em><\/span>, Code 46<\/span><\/em>, 9 Songs<\/em><\/span>, The Road to Guantanamo<\/em><\/span>, A Mighty Heart<\/em><\/span>, and Trishna<\/em><\/span>. In the meantime, Marcel Zyskind<\/strong> have also lensed stories for such diverse filmmakers as Harmony Korine<\/strong> (Mister Lonely<\/span><\/em>), Lukas Moodysson<\/strong> (Mammoth<\/em><\/span>), and Hossein Amini<\/strong> (The Two Faces of January<\/span><\/em> on which he met Viggo Mortensen<\/strong>). On the set of Falling<\/span><\/em>, Marcel Zyskind<\/strong> have found yet another opportunity to reflect on human nature with his compositions, colour pallette and relationship with the director.
