The artistic world of Australian artist\u00a0<\/span>Patricia Piccinini<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>(b. 1965) is played out in a field where science fiction, surrealism, environmentalism and feminism intersect. We meet fabulous, hybrid and bizarre creatures, mechanized animals and mutated human beings that live side by side. They evoke remote origins, but also an unknown collective future.<\/span><\/p>\n

Piccinini\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>magical tales of past and future life forms are closely connected to our current reality. She thematizes climate change and high-tech conditions which in various radical ways are changing our world and our life. Species die out, while new ones appear as a result of artificial intelligence and genetic manipulation. New links, both fascinating and fearsome, are formed between humankind, nature and technology.\u00a0<\/span>Piccinini<\/strong>\u00a0invites us to fantasize over the possible future biological and existential interfaces between humankind and other species.<\/span><\/p>\n

With playful, mould-breaking narratives, Piccinini<\/strong> challenges us with what it means to exist in a world that teems with different kinds of life. Her works involve ethical messages about empathy and care for all the creatures and plants we share this earth with, as well as for those yet to be known that will live among us in the future.<\/p>\n

The exhibition in Toru\u0144 is Patricia Piccinini\u2019s<\/strong> first solo show in Poland. The event accompanies the 29th edition of the EnergaCAMERIMAGE Festival<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

The exhibition is organized by World Art Foundation<\/strong>.<\/span>
