I could see that recognition of the craft was something the industry was perhaps lacking, and this was a sentiment shared by the rest of the team at\u00a0<span style=\"color: #d29600;\">FilmLight<\/span>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cAs testimony to this gut reaction, the response has been overwhelming: we are genuinely delighted it got off to such a successful start. We are heartened to see that entries came from around the world and from people with so many different skillsets.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> A global panel* of 17 industry luminaries, including cinematographers\u00a0<strong>Bradford Young<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Anthony Dod Mantle<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Danny Cohen<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><strong>Shanker Rama<\/strong><span><strong>n<\/strong>, along with senior colourists\u00a0<strong>Peter Doyle<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Simon Astbury<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Anne Boyle<\/strong>, have embraced the initiative and started judging hundreds of creative projects.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Beatriz Pineda<\/strong>, Sr. Director, Non-Linear Distribution &amp; New Technologies, HBO Latin America, commented: \u201cAs imaging technology leaps forward, we have also become more creative. Diversity of streaming platforms, higher standards for picture quality, new technologies for content processing and distribution&#8230; the possibilities for design and expression have expanded tremendously.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIn Latin America for instance, I&#8217;ve witnessed a boost in quality, talent, and creative ideas on set and in post. I&#8217;m sure it will show through in this competition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> \u201cIt\u2019s often hard to quantify what a good colourist brings to a project \u2013 that inscrutable \u2018fairy dust&#8217; that we sprinkle\u201d, said colourist\u00a0<strong>Jet Omoshebi<\/strong>. \u201cIt is nice to come out of the shadows and celebrate excellent talent with an award of our own.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> Cinematographer\u00a0<strong>Eben Bolter<\/strong>, BSC, agreed. \u201cI\u2019m delighted to be joining a jury that will shine a light on colourists and celebrate their invaluable contribution to the art of cinematography. The DI allows us to reconvene and confront the reality of what happened on the shoot, making it the best visual story it can possibly be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p> The programme has also benefited from the support of the American Society of Cinematographers, Imago (the International Federation of Cinematographers) and CSI (Colorist Society International).<\/p>\n<p> The jury is now evaluating all the entries, with a shortlist of three in each of the four categories to be announced at the end of October. The winners will be announced as part of the\u00a0<span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE 2021<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0event in mid-November. Recognising that people still struggle to travel, the awards presentation ceremony will be live streamed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> In closing,\u00a0<span style=\"color: #d29600;\">FilmLight\u2019s\u00a0<\/span><strong>Jacqueline Loran\u00a0<\/strong>said, \u201cI wish all our participants good luck.
