On Tuesday, the list of films competing for this year\u2019s Oscar\u00ae statuette was released. <\/strong>The EnergaCAMERIMAGE 2022<\/span> Golden, Silver and Bronze Frog winners in the Main Competition and the recipients of the Special Festival Director\u2019s Awards were among the nominees not only for Best Cinematography, but also in many other categories of the prestigious American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) awards!<\/strong><\/p>\n

As organizers of a film event, we were delighted to see that as many as 21 titles honored by the Academy were productions included in the last year’s EnergaCAMERIMAGE<\/strong> <\/span>program, led by the winners of the Festival’s main awards. The Golden Frog winner, T\u00e1r<\/em><\/span> (cin. Florian Hoffmeister, dir. Todd Field), was honored with six Oscar\u00ae nominations. The Silver Frog Award-winning film Bardo: A False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths<\/em><\/span> (cin. Darius Khondji, dir. Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu) received one nomination, while the Bronze Frog-honored Living<\/em><\/span> (cin. Jamie Ramsay, dir. Oliver Hermanus) will compete for an Oscar\u00ae statuette in two independent categories. The Special Award laureates Elvis<\/em><\/span> (cin. Mandy Walker, dir. Baz Luhrmann) and Top Gun: Maverick<\/em><\/span> (cin. Claudio Miranda, dir. Joseph Kosinski) are up for eight and six Academy Awards\u00ae, respectively.<\/p>\n

During the 30th<\/sup> edition of EnergaCAMERIMAGE<\/strong><\/span>, we had also the opportunity to see the following acclaimed features: All Quiet on the Western Front<\/em><\/span> (cin. James Friend, dir. Edward Berger), The Banshees of Inisherin<\/em><\/span> (cin. Ben Davis, dir. Martin McDonagh), Empire of Light<\/em> <\/span>(cin. Roger Deakins, dir. Sam Mendes), The Fabelmans<\/em><\/span> (cin. Janusz Kami\u0144ski, dir. Steven Spielberg), Blonde<\/em><\/span> (cin. Chayse Irvin, dir. Andrew Dominik), The Whale<\/em><\/span> (cin. Matthew Libatique, dir. Darren Aronofsky), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever<\/em> <\/span>(cin. Autumn Durald Arkapaw, dir. Ryan Coogler), Women Talking<\/em><\/span> (cin. Luc Montpellier, dir. Sarah Polley), Glass Onion<\/em><\/span> (cin. Steve Yedlin, dir. Rian Johnson), The Batman<\/em><\/span> (cin. Greig Fraser, dir. Matt Reeves), Argentina, 1985<\/em> <\/span>(cin. Javier Julia, dir. Santiago Mitre), The Quiet Girl<\/em><\/span> (cin. Kate McCullough, dir. Colm Bair\u00e9ad), EO<\/span> <\/em>(cin. Micha\u0142 Dymek, dir. Jerzy Skolimowski); as well as the documentaries: Fire of Love<\/em><\/span> (cin. Katia Krafft, Maurice Krafft, dir. Sara Dosa), How Do You Measure a Year?<\/em> <\/span>(cin. Jay Rosenblatt, dir. Jay Rosenblatt), and All That Breathes<\/em> <\/span>(cin. Ben Bernhard, Saumyananda Sahi, Riju Das, dir. Shaunak Sen). Altogether, the movies won as many as 70 nominations.<\/p>\n

We are particularly pleased that all the motion pictures qualified for the EnergaCAMERIMAGE 2022<\/strong><\/span> Main Competition received their Oscar\u00ae nominations in the most significant category for us \u2013 Best Cinematography.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our congratulations go to James Friend<\/strong> (All Quiet on the Western Front<\/em>), Darius Khondji<\/strong> (Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths<\/em>), Roger Deakins<\/strong> (Empire of Light<\/em>), Florian Hoffmeister<\/strong> (T\u00e1r<\/em>) and the third female nominee in this category in history, Mandy Walker<\/strong> (Elvis<\/em>). We are keeping our fingers crossed for all of them!<\/p>\n

The great news, however, would not be complete if we did not to mention the wonderful distinction for Jerzy Skolimowski<\/strong> \u2013 the EO<\/em><\/span> director. <\/em>The movie received a nomination in the Best International Feature Film category, representing Poland.<\/p>\n

From the very beginning, we actively recommended EO<\/em><\/span> to the members of the Academy present in Toru\u0144 at EnergaCAMERIMAGE 2022<\/strong><\/span>, who had the opportunity to watch this incredible film as a special screening. We congratulate Jerzy Skolimowski<\/strong> on this well-deserved honour and wish him good luck!<\/p>\n

The 95th<\/sup> Academy Awards\u00ae<\/strong> will take place on the night of March 12-13 (CET), at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. While waiting for the final results, have a look at the full list of nominees.<\/p>\n
