During the ceremony, which was held as usual at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California, winners in all 23 categories have been introduced, including Best Achievement in Cinematography, obviously the most significant one for us.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p>All the titles included in last year&#8217;s <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE<\/strong><\/span> program and honored by the Academy turned a total of 70 nominations into 9 statuettes. But the undisputed winner of this year\u2019s gala was <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Everything Everywhere All at Once<\/em><\/span> (dir. Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), which ultimately won in 7 out of 11 categories it was nominated to.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, the most significant for us is the <strong>Best Achievement in Cinematography<\/strong> category, and for this verdict we have been waiting with exceptional impatience. As you may know, all the motion pictures qualified for the <strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE 2022<\/strong> Main Competition received their Oscar\u00ae nominations, and among the cinematographers distinguished by <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE<\/strong> <\/span>were the recipients of the Golden and Silver Frog Awards \u2013<strong> Florian Hoffmeister, BSC <\/strong>nominated for <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>T\u00e1r<\/em><\/span> (dir. Todd Field) and <strong>Darius Khondji, ASC, AFC<\/strong> for <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Bardo: False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths<\/em><\/span> (dir. Alejandro Gonz\u00e1lez I\u00f1\u00e1rritu); granted with the Festival Director\u2019s Special Award \u2013 <strong>Mandy Walker, ASC, ACS<\/strong> for <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Elvis<\/em><\/span> (dir. Baz Luhrmann), as well as the Main Competition nominees \u2013 <strong>James Friend, ASC, BSC <\/strong>for <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>All Quiet on the Western Front <\/em><\/span>(dir. Edward Berger), and <strong>Roger Deakins, ASC, BSC <\/strong>for<span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em> Empire of Light<\/em><\/span> (dir. He is best known for his work on <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>All Quiet on the Western Front<\/em><\/span> (2022, dir. Edward Berger), which earned him among others his first Oscar\u00ae in the career as well as BSC Award, and BAFTA Film Award for Best Cinematography. <strong>James Friend\u2019s<\/strong> formal debut as a fully-fledged director of photography in a feature film dates back to 2006 when he worked on <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>The Man Who Sold the World <\/em><\/span>(dir. Louis Melville). Shortly after that experience, he worked in many features, commercials, promos and documentaries, and is best known as an excellent DoP in television dramas and series. He photographed such series as <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Rillington Place<\/em><\/span>, which won him a BAFTA TV Award in 2016, as well as <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Stan Lee\u2019s Lucky Man, Patrick Melrose, Victoria<\/em><\/span> or <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>The War of the Worlds<\/em><\/span>. In 2018,\u00a0<strong>James Friend<\/strong> won the Grand Prix of the <strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE<\/strong> TV Pilots Competition for his cinematography in the first episode of <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Patrick Melrose<\/em><\/span>.
