Pablo Larra\u00edn \/ Netflix \u00a92023<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pablo Larra\u00edn<\/strong>, a director recognized for thought-provoking films about different shades of lives of well-known cultural and political figures (<em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Neruda<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Jackie<\/span><\/em>, <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Spencer<\/em><\/span>), presents a dark comedy\/horror that imagines a parallel universe inspired by the recent history of Chile. The film portrays Augusto Pinochet, a symbol of world fascism, as a vampire who lives hidden in a ruined mansion in the cold southern tip of the continent. Feeding his appetite for evil to sustain his existence. After two hundred and fifty years of life, Pinochet has decided to stop drinking blood and abandon the privilege of eternal life. He can no longer bear that the world remembers him as a thief. Despite the disappointing and opportunistic nature of his family, he finds new inspiration to continue living a life of vital and counterrevolutionary passion through an unexpected relationship.<\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">El Conde&#8217;s<\/span> <\/em>cinematographer <strong>Ed Lachman<\/strong> is <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE&#8217;s<\/strong><\/span> true legend, being the only winner of Golden Frog (<em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Carol<\/span>,<\/em> 2015), Silver Frog (<em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Far from Heaven<\/span><\/em>, 2002), and Bronze Frog (<em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">I&#8217;m Not There<\/span><\/em>, 2007). This is his fifth nomination in the Main Competition.\u00a0He was also nominated for <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Wonderstruck<\/span><\/em> (2017). He wears his mask with such a panach\u00e9 that multiple German women feel attracted to him, yet he is constantly wondering how long will he be able to continue living the lie.<\/p>\n<p>The film was shot very evocatively by <strong>Micha\u0142 Soboci\u0144ski<\/strong>, winner of Bronze Tadpole for <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Father<\/em><\/span> (2007) in the Student Etudes Competitionas well as winner of the Polish Films Competition for <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Art of Loving, The. Story of Michalina Wislocka<\/em><\/span> (2017). <strong>Soboci\u0144ski<\/strong> was also nominated in the Cinematographers&#8217; Debuts Competition for <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Kamchatka<\/em><\/span> (2013). This is his first Main Competition nomination. <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Filip&#8217;s<\/em><\/span> director <strong>Micha\u0142 Kwieci\u0144ski&#8217;s<\/strong> films as a producer were frequently screened at <strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE<\/strong> (<span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Kroniki domowe <\/em><\/span>in 1997, <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Afterimage<\/em><\/span> in 2016, <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>A Cat with a Dog<\/em><\/span> in 2018, <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>The In-Laws <\/em><\/span>in 2021), and one of them was awarded with a Golden Frog (<strong>Arthur Reinhart&#8217;s<\/strong> cinematography in <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><em>Venice<\/em><\/span>, 2010), yet this is the first time we will screen his film as a director. Set in the summer of 1957, with Enzo Ferrari&#8217;s auto empire in crisis, the ex-racer turned entrepreneur pushes himself and his drivers to the edge as they launch into the Mille Miglia, a treacherous 1,000-mile race across Italy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mann<\/strong> created<span style=\"color: #d29600;\"> <em>Ferrari&#8217;s<\/em> <\/span>visceral visuals through collaboration with Academy Award\u00ae-winning cinematographer <strong>Erik Messerschmidt<\/strong> (<em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Mank<\/span><\/em>) for whom this will be the first ever nomination in <strong><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">EnergaCAMERIMAGE<\/span><\/strong> Main Competition.
