Yes, money is important \u2013 well, indispensable \u2013 but a producer\u2019s job is to spend the money responsibly to surround a project with people who will develop its potential. Throughout the years, <span style=\"color: #d29600;\"><strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival<\/strong> <\/span>has awarded some of the most inspiring and independent-thinking film producers around, including <strong>Jeremy Thomas<\/strong>, <strong>Richard Zanuck<\/strong>, <strong>Paula Wagner<\/strong>, <strong>Robert Lantos<\/strong>, and <strong>Frank Spotnitz<\/strong>. It is our great pleasure to announce that this year\u2019s <strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE Award for Producer with Unique Visual Sensitivity<\/strong> will be presented to <strong>Jon Kilik<\/strong> who nourished some of the best independent American films of the last thirty years and supported filmmakers such as <strong>Spike Lee<\/strong>, <strong>Julian Schnabel<\/strong>, <strong>Gary Ross<\/strong>, <strong>Alejandro G. I\u00f1\u00e1rritu<\/strong>, <strong>Bennett Miller<\/strong>, <strong>Jim Jarmusch<\/strong>, <strong>Francis Lawrence<\/strong>,<strong> Oliver Stone<\/strong>, <strong>Robert Altman<\/strong> and actors-turned-directors <strong>Robert De Niro<\/strong>, <strong>Tim Robbins<\/strong>, <strong>Ed Harris<\/strong>, <strong>Sean Penn<\/strong> and <strong>Tony Goldwyn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<em><a href=\"https:\/\/archive.camerimage.pl\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Kilik-poziom.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-36838\" src=\"https:\/\/archive.camerimage.pl\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Kilik-poziom-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/archive.camerimage.pl\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Kilik-poziom-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/archive.camerimage.pl\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Kilik-poziom-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/archive.camerimage.pl\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Kilik-poziom-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/archive.camerimage.pl\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Kilik-poziom-342x228.jpg 342w, https:\/\/archive.camerimage.pl\/assets\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Kilik-poziom.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nJon Kilik<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\n<strong>Jon Kilik&#8217;s<\/strong> first &#8216;produced by&#8217; credit came in 1987 when he and his New Jersey school friend <strong>Paul Mones<\/strong> developed <strong>Mones&#8217;<\/strong> college theater piece into the independent feature <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">The Beat<\/span><\/em> (1988). That first producer credit, after 7 years of pushing scripts with <strong>Mones<\/strong> and various production jobs on such films as <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Stardust Memories<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Sophie&#8217;s Choice<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Prizzi&#8217;s Honor<\/span><\/em> and <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Raising Arizona<\/span><\/em>, eventually led to an introduction to <strong>Spike Lee<\/strong> in 1987 and a collaboration that started with <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Do the Right Thing<\/span><\/em> (1989) and has continued for 17 films including, <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Malcolm X<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Clockers<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">He Got Game<\/span><\/em>, <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Inside Man<\/span><\/em> and <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Da 5 Bloods<\/span><\/em> among others. <strong>Kilik&#8217;s<\/strong> other long-term director-producer relationship \u2013 with <strong>Julian Schnabel<\/strong> \u2013 began in 1996 with <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Basquiat<\/span><\/em> and gave the world such films as <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">The Diving Bell and the Butterfly<\/span><\/em> (Golden Globe winner for Best Foreign Language Film, 4 Academy Award Nominations and Golden Frog in 2007 for cinematographer <strong>Janusz Kami\u0144ski<\/strong>), <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">Before Night Fall<\/span><\/em>, and <em><span style=\"color: #d29600;\">At Eternity&#8217;s Gate<\/span><\/em>. And for that we will always be grateful to <strong>Jon Kilik<\/strong>. We are therefore exhilarated that he will come to <strong>Toru\u0144<\/strong> this November to accept the <strong>EnergaCAMERIMAGE Award for Producer with Unique Visual Sensitivity<\/strong> and meet with the festival&#8217;s participants to discuss his ever-growing producer&#8217;s legacy and attitude towards the industry.
