The ASC Awards were presented on Sunday evening, revealing the best visual productions of 2023 as recognized by the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC).<\/strong><\/p>\n

The official 38th<\/sup> Annual ASC Awards ceremony<\/strong> was held on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California. Our team, headed by Marek \u017bydowicz<\/strong> (director of the EnergaCAMERIMAGE Film Festival<\/strong><\/span>) and Kazimierz Suwa\u0142a<\/strong> (director of the European Film Center CAMERIMAGE<\/strong>) were present on site to personally congratulate all the awarded filmmakers.<\/p>\n

In the Theatrical Feature Film <\/strong>category, the nominees include the EnergaCAMERIMAGE 2023<\/strong><\/span> Silver Frog winner, Edward Lachman<\/strong>, ASC, for El Conde<\/em><\/span>, as well as the Bronze Frog recipient, Robbie Ryan<\/strong>, BSC, ISC, recognized for his visual mastery in Poor Things<\/em><\/span>. Also competing for the ASC Award were films showcased in the Main Competition: Maestro<\/em><\/span> (cinematography by Matthew Libatique<\/strong>, ASC, LPS) and Killers of the Flower Moon<\/em><\/span> (cinematography by Rodrigo Prieto<\/strong>, ASC, AMC), as well as Oppenheimer<\/em><\/span>, featuring cinematography by Hoyte van Hoytema<\/strong>, ASC, FSF, NSC.<\/p>\n

Hoyte van Hoytema<\/strong> emerged as the best of the best, receiving an award for his work on Oppenheimer<\/em><\/span>, directed by Christopher Nolan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hoyte van Hoytema<\/strong>, for his work on the set of Oppenheimer<\/em><\/span>, alongside the ASC Award was additionally honored with the Critics\u2019 Choice and BAFTA Film Awards. He competed for the British Society of Cinematographers accolade as well as Satellite Award and is one of the Oscar\u00ae<\/sup> nominees for Best Cinematography, just to name a few.<\/p>\n

However, this is not the end of good news. Winner of the Golden Frog at EnergaCAMERIMAGE 2023<\/strong><\/span> for his film The New Boy<\/em><\/span>, Warwick Thornton<\/strong> picked up the Spotlight Award at the ceremony, and the ASC Award in his respective category was also received by Curren Sheldon<\/strong> for the documentary King Coal<\/em><\/span> screened in the Documentary Features Competition.<\/p>\n
