He shot almost 40 feature films and he was the first one in Poland to shoot on Eastmancolor film and in CinemaScope. He went down in history of Polish cinema as a sensitive master of image who shaped many filmmakers of the Polish School movement and who was a creative supporter of the younger generations of its followers. <\/p>\n<p> He started working in film industry already as a student of cinematography at Lodz Film School. In 1951 he was an assistant to <b>Andrzej Ancut<\/b>, DoP on <i><span>The Village Mill<\/i><\/span> (Gromada) by <b>Jerzy Kawalerowicz<\/b>. After graduation, at first he worked as a second cinematographer on several movies including <i><span>Celullose<\/i><\/span> (Celuloza) and <i><span>Under the Phrygian Star<\/i><\/span> (Pod gwiazd\u0105 frygijsk\u0105). His debut as a director of photography was with <i><span>Winter Twilight<\/i><\/span> (Zimowy zmierzch) directed by <b>Stanis\u0142aw Lenartowicz<\/b>. During his long-lasting career he worked with many outstanding Polish directors: <b>Wojciech J. Has<\/b>, <b>Aleksander Ford<\/b>, <b>Andrzej Wajda<\/b>, <b>Tadeusz Konwicki<\/b>, <b>Andrzej \u017bu\u0142awski<\/b>, <b>Tadeusz Chmielewski<\/b> i <b>Jerzy Gruza<\/b>. He also repeatedly worked with <b>Jan Rybkowski<\/b> and <b>Stanis\u0142aw J\u0119dryka<\/b>. <\/p>\n<p>  In addition to his work on dramatic features <b>Mieczys\u0142aw Jahoda<\/b> was also involved in directing photography on documentaries and music films (<i><span>Bema pami\u0119ci rapsod \u017ca\u0142obny<\/i><\/span> starring <b>Czes\u0142awem Niemenem<\/b>, dir. <b>Janusz Rzeszewski<\/b>). In 1978, together with <b>Rzeszewski<\/b>, he directed a musical comedy <i><span>Hallo Szpicbr\u00f3dka czyli ostatni wyst\u0119p kr\u00f3la kasiarzy<\/i><\/span>. <\/p>\n<p>  Since 1963 he was a teacher at Lodz Film School and since 1982 he was a full professor of the film art. From 1964 till 2005 he was an artistic tutor of several dozen of student etudes.
