Main Competition Jury press conference<\/b>
At the press conference with all nine members of the Main Jury<\/b>, including five cinematographers, the President, Brett Ratner<\/b> (Rush Hour, X-Men: The Last Stad<\/i> and Prison Break<\/i>) emphasized, that all of the movies are exceptional ones. Ratner pointed at the specifics of the competition, considering both esthetic and technical features. The winning movie will be the best in its integrity, with cinematography supporting the story and impressing the jury. <\/p>\n
Brett Ratner met with the audience also the day before, and talked about the beginning of his filmmaking adventure. <\/p>\n
P+S Technik Presentation<\/b>
In the seminar room of the Grand Theatre presentation of P+S Technik took place, featuring the latest Digital Cinema Camera – SI-2K. The speaker Anna Piffl<\/b> presented technical specitifation and the solutions employed. <\/p>\n
Press conference of the creators of Absolute Beginners<\/i><\/b>
The audience met with the cast: Marcin Brzozowski<\/b> and Wojciech Mecwaldowski<\/b>, co-producers: Anna Pachnicka<\/b> and Piotr Dzi\u0119cio\u0142<\/b>; the second cinematographer Filip Kabulski<\/b> and Piotr Szczepa\u0144ski<\/b> – director, cinematographer and co-producer. They all explained the movie as a painful, ironic reflection over the town of Lodz. <\/p>\n
Arri Workshop, Opus Film Studio<\/b>
Sean Bobbitt<\/b> talked about the evolution of ARRIFLEX 416 camera, created after a series of consultations with many cinematographers. Bobbitt also talked about his experience with this model – its improvements, ergonomy, small weight, quiet work and simplicity. Later on Marc Shipman – Mueller<\/b> demonstrated versatility of this year\u2019s Technical Oscar winner – ARRIFLEX 235. <\/p>\n
Meeting with Mike Figgis<\/b>
The meeting of students with Mike Figgis<\/b>, mysteriously titled “It is too much culture” took place in the seminar room. The guest argued that no revolution in our vision of art and the world has taken place for over 50 years: \u201cThe culture is a lake today, with a river flowing out of it, the problem is it has no outlet”. <\/p>\n
Press conference of the makers of Time to die<\/i><\/b>
Acclaimed by the audience and journalists movie by Artur Reinhard<\/b> (cinematography) and Dorota K\u0119dzierzawska<\/b> (director) competes both in Main and Polish Film Competition. It is their fourth collaboration. Time to die<\/i> convinces both in terms of the plot and black-white photography. Reinhard admits this movie was challenging in terms of technology. <\/p>\n
Press conference of Jan Sv\u011br\u00e1k, director of Empties<\/i><\/b>
The director focused on the issues of cooperation with the main actor Zdenek Sv\u011br\u00e1k<\/b>, his father, and the cinematographer Vladimir Smutny<\/b> (it is the third collaboration of those two filmmakers). Also a question of reality in Sv\u011br\u00e1k\u2019s film appeared, initiating a discussion about Czech film in general. <\/p>\n
