The exhibition is accompanied by meetings and discussions with his former collaborators and co-creators of his movies.

Today’s meeting was devoted to Kieslowski’s early output on which some of his former cinematographers discussed – Jacek Petrycki, Witold Stok and Jacek Bławut. They all admitted that collaboration with this famous director was one of the most important experiences in their life. They also talked about all the obstacles they came across while shooting those first, earliest movies. The reason for those difficulties was mostly Polish political reality of that time. Everything in the country was determined by Communist Authorities and their decisions. They reminisced with admiration all his creativity in developing the ways to simultaneously work with accordance to his artistic idea and not to expose himself and all his crew to censorship and the Authorities’ revenge.

Guests also put an accent on the fact that Kieslowski was a kind of person that was able to create very comfortable working conditions. He did not requested that his operators work for 12 hours constantly focused. He was aware that nobody could take this kind of pressure. He could sense the moment in which working atmosphere was getting “heavy” with perfect accuracy and was able to eliminate it with jokes and funny anecdotes.

The conclusion that comes to ones mind after hearing what they said is that Kieslowski was not only a famous director and a master in his art but also a commonly appreciated, admired and favored person.

Sine 27/10/2005 Museum of Cinematography holds an exhibition dedicated to Kieslowski, his art and life.
