The Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT) was founded in 1945. Since 1975, it has been one of the 26 members of the University of Ljubljana. The teaching process at the Academy combines artistic and research activities, and is strongly based on individual tutoring.
Study programmes at the Academy are designed in line with an artistic, creative, and practical foundation. Their objective is to train students in the provision and implementation of various art projects in their respective fields.
Each year, students present their practical work in numerous theatre productions, short films, and television dramas. The productions are open to the general public, while the films directed by our students are regularly broadcast on national television.
Undergraduate studies – 1st cycle
The duration of the Film and Television study programme is three years. It covers three modules: Film and Television Directing, Cinematography for Film and Television, and Film and Television Editing. Graduates will learn how to face the challenges of their own creativity and aim to achieve professional high-tech standards.
Postgraduate studies – 2nd cycle
The duration of the Film and Television Arts study programme is two years. It offers six modules: Film Directing, Television Directing, Editing, Cinematography, Screenplay Writing, and Production. The aim of the programme is to enable its MA graduates to be competent in the artistic and professional tasks required for the most demanding audio-visual projects.
The duration of the Film and Television Studies study programme is two years. It provides students with an in-depth knowledge of audio-visual media and their content from the viewpoint of media as art as well as in terms of psychological, sociological, economic, and public administration policies.
The Academy is actively involved in the international community through its educational, artistic, and research activities, and is a member of several prominent international professional associations, such as the Fédération internationale pour la recherche théâtrale – International Federation for Theatre Research (FIRT/IFTR), the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA), the International Association of Film and Television Schools (CILECT), and others.
The review of the films shot by the Academy's students will be accompanied by Framing in Cinematography seminar during which prof. Igor Koršič will talk about an unusual meeting of approx. 150 directors of photography that took place in 1990 in Denmark. Stay tuned for more information about the event.

A young couple is in crisis because of the boyfriend’s constant smoking. When he starts to change into a human herb, their love life starts to take a wild spin.

Back to the Memories
At the end, we tend to return to our childhood, our roots, but the only things that remain are stumps from once blossoming cherries, and photographs that soon won’t make sense anymore. After a stroke, Štefka can’t even remember her name, but one night a memory from her early childhood vividly returns. When she was only three, her grandmother showed her a photograph of her children. Štefka visits her sister Zorka, a blind photographer, who may know more about the photograph. Time wrinkled their skin and completely changed the places in the photographs, but their memories are still alive, as are the photographs, resisting time.

Benjamin
The documentary follows a 12-year-old autistic boy named Benjamin. He isn’t trapped in social norms and learned behavioural patterns, so his guidance in life is through what he feels. Benjamin is authentic and direct, but people quite often misunderstand him. He loves trains and numbers, so he spends lots of time at the Ljubljana train station with his mother Maja. Maja drives a city bus, which is not only her work, but also her time to relax. She is the link between Benjamin and his brother Tadej, who loves Benjamin, but has a hard time with him too.

I am bordered, You are bordered, We are all bordered. It sounds like a children’s song. But it is not. Ciao, I am Leo, nice to meet you!

A group of teenagers breaks into a swimming pool complex. Youthful playfulness soon transforms into wild chaos that leads to an accident. The situation suddenly changes.

Duck Hunting
Two sons wait for their father on the day he is released from prison. They go duck hunting together, like they did before he was locked up. But instead of a shotgun, the father is presented with a shovel, and instead of a duck, his two sons shoot him.

Ljubljana - Munchen 15:27
Mala is working in a print shop temporarily until she finds a better job. Jure is working in construction temporarily to earn some money until he finds something better. They are living in a small attic flat temporarily until things settle down and they find a nicer place to live. Just two more months and little Rubi will enter their temporary world. The film explores the moment when you realise that everything you thought was temporary suddenly becomes permanent.

Springtime Sleep, The
All of a sudden, the world has become very different for Jasna, or has it always been this way? She doesn’t try to find out, but rather lives in the present as it is. Doing so, she meets the young boy Pero, who she finds a little untrustworthy but intriguing, and together they go on a journey to find the meaninglessness of what was and what will be.

Trieste Is Ours!
In 2009, a group of partisan soldiers led by Commander France decide to free the Italian city of Trieste. Most of all, France is worried because the younger generation, among whom is his daughter Mateja, doesn’t want to accept partisan history and the values of many generations before them. Which side will Mateja choose and will the Italian city of Trieste be Slovenian again?
