The Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz has the pleasure of announcing that as part of joint cooperation with the organizers of the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography CAMERIMAGE all accredited guests of the Festival will receive a 50% discount on the purchase of normal and group admission tickets. The discount (given when a Festival ID is shown) will be in force/valid throughout the duration of the festival and will apply to all facilities and exhibitions of the Regional Museum. Information about the museum exhibitions:

1. Archaeological Collection, 2 Mennica Street

‘In the Borderland between Wielkopolska and Pomerania: Bydgoszcz and Its Environs since the Dawn of Time’

The exhibition shows the earliest history of our region, from the beginning of settlement (ca. 12,000–10,000 BC) until the Migration Period (AD 5th–6th c.). The presented artefacts come from the Krajna, Kuyavia, and Pałuki regions, with the majority appearing in the collection of the Leon Wyczółkowski Regional Museum in Bydgoszcz. The exhibition will feature the remains of material culture from over the centuries, including various tools, decorations, weaponry, and everyday articles, allowing visitors to observe the technological transitions and evolution of human thought that gradually tamed the environment and improved the quality of human life here. Artefacts and numerous reconstructions will be presented from various epochs and prehistoric periods. In order to make this 'unique time journey’ possible, the organizers plan to install modern forms of media, allowing the visitor to actively participate in touring the exhibition and to broaden their knowledge to their heart’s content. Additionally, the various multimedia and interactive forms will ensure that visitors are comfortable when coming face-to-face with the exhibition’s content and that opportunities are created for guests to actively participate during their visit.

‘In the City of Bydgost: Mysteries of Life of Early Medieval Residents of Bydgoszcz and Its Area’

The exhibition presents material culture seen through many aspects of social and spiritual life of early medieval residents of Bydgoszcz and its area. The exhibition features tools, ornaments, weaponry, and everyday articles.

‘Graphic Game of Art’

The presentation will show an interesting graphic project. The exhibition does not present graphic works but graphic matrixes. A matrix shows and helps us to understand the first stage of work—from intention and idea through making a form. The end of this process is a graphic print. The exhibition will reveal the extraordinary ways in which artists thinking.

2. European Money Centre, 4 Mennica Street

‘The History of Money: The Middle Ages’

The exhibition includes a wide selection of numismatic items from the 10th–15th c. period, representing different countries, rulers, mints, monetary systems, and iconographic styles. Visitors to the exhibition can get an overall feel of what medieval Europe was like and be introduced to the realities of the period thanks to the extensive information, as well as graphical and multimedia imageries and the use of a wide variety of archaeological sources and monument replicas.

‘The History and Present State of Mill Island’

Mill Island, a river island surrounded by the waters of the Brda River that occupies a total area of 6.5 ha, is a very unique site in Europe due to its proximity to the Old Market Square. In the past, this part of the city served as its business zone, featuring first its famous mint and later a milling industry centre. Along with gradual diminishing of the industrial character of the Island, it has transitioned into a venue for cultural events. These days, as a result of revitalization works carried out in the area, Mill Island is host to exclusively social, cultural, entertainment, and tourist functions.

‘Bydgoszcz Mint’

A historical exhibition, comprising almost a hundred years of the history of the Bydgoszcz Mint. It presents the process of coin minting, blacksmith’s tools, crucibles, minting stamps, scales, and the treasury box.

The basement presents an illustrated process of coin minting, based on replicas of stained glass windows from the mint of Constance. In addition, with the help of 3D technology the exhibition presents a 100-ducat coin dating from 1621, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful coins in Europe, and the new gold Zygmunt III Waza ducat from 1968.

3. Modern Art Gallery, 8 Mennica Street

‘Multiplicity in Unity: Lithography and Planographic Printing Techniques in Poland after 1900’

The exhibition will show the history and development of a traditional group of printing techniques: planographic printing and lithography. The exhibition will present a set of approx. 250 graphics by outstanding artists whose main forms of artistic expression were the planographic printing techniques—classic lithography, its varieties, and related printing techniques, as well as unconventional solutions and modern experimental techniques. The exhibition is incorporated into the following program: International Print Triennials—Kraków 2015.

‘Modern Art Gallery’

The exhibition presents the most representative artworks in the collection of the Bydgoszcz Museum. A layout features styles, trends, and creative attitudes in Polish art in the past hundred years, including the group of École de Paris artists, avant-garde groups of the twenty-year interwar period, Colourism, expressive abstraction and matter painting, geometric expression and accompanying conceptual reflection, new figuration, photorealism, the surrealist-metaphorical trend, and critical art.

4. The House of Leon Wyczółkowski, 7 Mennica Street

‘The Work of Leon Wyczółkowski’

The Regional Museum has one of the biggest collections of paintings, drawings, and graphic art of Leon Wyczółkowski in Poland. The exhibition presents works of the artist, supplemented by a collection of numerous documents, an extensive photographic archive, personal memorabilia, and exhibits in the form of the artist’s studio and furniture from his manor house in Gościeradz. This collection has been systematically expanded by a number of acquisitions and deposits.

5. Granaries on the Brda River, 7–11 Grodzka Street

‘In the Shadow of War: Bydgoszcz and Its Residents during the Second World War’

The exhibition was prepared on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War this year, based on the museum’s own collections and external collections. The exhibition is a historical journey around occupied Bydgoszcz.

‘From the Old Market Square to Wolności Square: Walking the Streets of Interwar Bydgoszcz’

This interactive exhibition presents the interwar, multicultural Bydgoszcz. It features topics regarding the cultural heritage, economic foundation, and the complexity and diversity of the processes and events that supported the development of the city on the Brda River, as well as the dynamics of changes that took place in it.

6. Exploseum—War Technology Centre DAG Fabrik Bromberg, Alfred Nobel Street

It is a unique example of industrial architecture preserved almost unchanged since the Second World War. The tour route, which is approx. two kilometres in length, goes through eight buildings connected by underground corridors. Exploseum is a modern narrative museum in which multimedia accompany traditional exhibition forms.
