The International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography CAMERIMAGE is a place of many discussions about the future of cinema. 3D technology for movies has become a significant influence on the film industry, yet it remains a matter of a heated debate. Therefore, we consider it very important to take up this subject during the upcoming 21st edition. Apart from the 3D Competition we will screen a few other interesting 3D projects. One of them is the 3D version of Top Gun.

It will take your breath away. Tony Scott's beloved classic, which started the international careers of Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer, will be screened at Camerimage in eye-popping 3D. The original release was lensed under cinematographer, Jeffery Kimball and the 3D conversion was completed under the watchful eye of stereographer Dr. Barry Sandrew, founder of Legend3D, Inc., one of the most successful companies working in the field of stereo conversion.

Top Gun premiered in U.S. on May 12th, 1986, nearly three decades ago. It was met with many enthusiastic reviews, grossed over $350 million worldwide, and received four Academy Award® nominations - for Best Editing, Best Sound, Best Sound Design and Best Original Song - leaving the ceremony with the Oscar® for "Take My Breath Away" (music by Giorgio Moroder, lyrics by Tom Whitlock). The film's technical perfection, visual panache, action-packed narrative, and iconic soundtrack made it an essential viewing for every moviegoer looking for a unique cinematic experience. One of the most jaw-dropping aspects of Top Gun was its electrifying aerial footage, holding its own after 27 years, that gave the viewers even greater opportunity to immerse fully in the world of the film's devil-may-care navy pilots. 3D stereo conversion makes it even more insanely watchable and technically uncompromising.
