Film and Art School Etudes Competition
First held in 1997, Student Etudes Competition supports the development of novice filmmakers and provides unique opportunity to confront cinematic achievements of students from various parts of the world. Each year, a growing number of film schools submit their best etudes for consideration of the Camerimage selection committee. The winners are chosen by an international jury of prominent filmmakers and industry professionals.
The author of the best cinematography wins the coveted Laszlo Kovacs Student Award – The Golden Tadpole. Silver and Bronze Tadpoles are awarded for the second and third place respectively.
SELECTION MATERIALS
The following materials need to be emailed to via email to [email protected]:
-5 stills from the etude (.tiff or .jpg files, not less than 1920 pixels on the long edge, 300 dpi)
– high resolution headshot photo of the cinematographer(s) (minimum 1920 pixels on the longer side)
-English (and Polish, if available) dialogue list with time code
-synopsis in English (and in Polish, if available)
-information about camera(s) used on the film (make and model), if not given in the entry form
-information about lenses used on the film (make and model), if not given in the entry form
-certificate of student status (both for the cinematographer and director)
PREVIEW SCREENERS
The Submitter is obliged to provide an online screener such as a Vimeo, YouTube or other streaming platform link or as downloadable file (as per the entry form declaration). If the etude is not in Polish or English language, the screener should include English or Polish subtitles.
DEADLINE
The deadline for the delivery of a preview screener and other required materials is 31st July 2024. We recommend however that you provide all the required materials within 7 days from submitting it online. Please make sure that in case of any links being provided, they need to remain valid till the end of September 20242024.
RESULTS
Selection results will be sent to the submitter by 1st October 2024. If your etude is selected you will be asked to provide a DCP (Digital Cinema Package) or a video file (according to the specification provided by the Organiser) with English subtitles (if a film is not originally in the English language) and Polish subtitles, if available.
