FROM THE SMALL TO THE BIG SCREEN – NEW COMPETITION AT CAMERIMAGE 2015!
 
Remember the TV shows of the olden days? The never-ending dramas, teary soap operas and way too cheap thrills? Oh boy did the scene change! CAMERIMAGE festival, always on the hunt for the latest trends in audiovisual arts, is soon to recognize the new golden age of television. We are excited to announce that our this year’s program will premiere a new section: “First Look – TV Pilots Competition”!
 
 
You only get one shot at making a great first impression. What does it take to have your viewers locked on the edge of their seats from the get-go? How to persuade them not to abandon your show after the first few episodes? What is the place of television series in contemporary filmmaking world? Is the visual language of cinematography important for TV creators? Join us to hear the answers to these questions at this year’s CAMERIMAGE. What better way to start this debate than with the festival’s new competitive section showcasing the pilots or first episodes of brand new TV shows.
 
“First Look – TV Pilots Competition” will reveal the very best of what the TV industry has to offer! We are going to screen the freshest and hottest TV titles from around the world – taken straight from the small and up to the big screen for your unadulterated viewing pleasure. To raise the stakes, all competition entries will be judged by a professional jury. But we won’t stop there. We plan to hold several panel discussions with leading showrunners and other industry professionals who will speak about the recent emergence of cinematic aesthetics in television series and whether this trend poses any threat to traditional movie theatres. Which medium holds the brighter future – movies or TV shows? What’s the difference, if any, between working on the set of a TV production and that of a regular feature film? These and more questions will hopefully find their answers with the introduction of “First Look – TV Pilots Competition” at CAMERIMAGE. Let’s open a public discussion about the future of television productions and their influence on visual storytelling.
 
All film buffs and television aficionados are welcome to attend various events that will be organized in connection with the new CAMERIMAGE section, while the creators, producers and TV stations are highly encouraged to submit their work to the competition. Starting today, our online entry forms are up and running on our website – right HERE.
 
Submission eligibility: TV pilots or the first episodes for shows produced in 2015 and 2014. Before submitting, please read the rules that contain important information about the required selection materials, acceptable viewing screeners and final screening copies. Submission deadline: 31 August 2015.
