In order to develop a film, you need light. Film is photosensitive. This is exactly what we do, we bring light to little places and develop them, make them alive and full of colours. Polish language offers us this tiny game, pun on words and by the name “light-sensitive" goes “photosensitive" as well.


If you are curious how sensitive you are to light, you should definitely joins us during Plus Camerimage festival. Light means life. Lights brings colours. Light means cinema, and cinema means magic, new life, different worlds. But what to do if on a Friday night - let's even add: Polish, dark, winter night - you want to watch a good film but there's no cinema where you live? Don't worry, there are people who will bring light to your home town. They are called Polska Światłoczuła (Light/Photosensitive Poland). By this pleasant code name goes by a project run by Dorota Kędzierzawska (film director) and Arthur Reinhart (cameraman, two-time Golden Frog winner) who reach small, forgotten, almost invisible places on google maps, in order to show there a new, good Polish film and organize a meeting with its creators (directors, actors).
It's been more than a year since they are on this light/photosensitive tour.
This time, we invite you to join us during Plus Camerimage festival to talk about cinema, light or life.
But first of all you need to join us in light painting. Long, dark winter days are coming, let's spread the light. All the light paintings will be photographed and published on our website polskaswiatloczula.pl.
Don't hesitate, turn on the lights, show us how lights/photosensitive you are and later choose the best painting that warms your heart.

We will be waiting for you in the foyer of the Opera Nova at the Focha street 5 from 24th of November till 1st of December 2012. See you there!

    FILM PRODUCTION EFFICIENCY

    CREATIVE COLLABORATION BETWEEN CINEMATOGRAPHER - PRODUCER FROM THE DEVELOPMENT UP TO POSTPRODUCTION organized by The Polish Society of Cinematographers (STOFF/PSC), The Polish Chamber of Audiovisual Producers, and FilmPRO Magazine.

    The seminar will focus on the creative cooperation between the cinematographer and producer. Currently, both parties have increasingly less contact. As a result, cinematographers' artistic influence over the pictures they co-create is being lost. It's disadvantageous to everybody, including the producer, that instead of pictures which are highly emotional and meaningful, one merely gets a correctly filmed enactment before a camera.

    As film funding decreases, rational budget management becomes key to successful production. The aim of this seminar is to show that creativity doesn't cost anything, and that a close cooperation between the producer and cinematographer from development to post-production has many benefits.

    The list of topics this seminar touches upon includes a proper selection of technological mediums, including camera selection - a choice that determines digital workflow. This issue will be discussed on the basis of various types of production (feature films, documentaries, series, commercials).

    SEMINAR FOR THE FILM CRITICS ABOUT THE ART OF CINEMATOGRAPHY

    organized by The Polish Society of Cinematographers (STOFF/PSC) and FilmPRO Magazine.

    The seminar is about the analysis of cinematography in films, discussing its language as well as the role of the cinematographer within the creative process - who is she/he, and what does she/he do? The seminar aims to draw attention to the visual aspects of films and broaden knowledge about the art of cinematography.

    The seminar is a continuation of last year's meeting of film theoreticians and cinematographers, which was intended to initialize a long-term discussion on how to write about films. This initiative should result in a dialogue based on mutual understanding. The seminar serves as an introduction to the meetings that will take place on that day, which will consist of discussions about specific films from the perspective of cinematography.

    DISCUSSION PANEL
    HOW TO TEACH CINEMATOGRAPHY

    organized by The Polish Society of Cinematographers (STOFF/PSC) and FilmPRO Magazine.

    The aim of this panel is to invite officials from film schools to a discussion on how to teach cinematography and develop it creatively in the context of the digital revolution and the ever changing world of film. The expansion of visual creation should lead to finding new forms and methods of teaching cinematography. A discussion about current curriculums in films schools is necessary to ensure that future cinematographers will be able to co-operate with the people involved in the visual side of films.
