3D Films Competition is organized by Camerimage and International 3D & Advanced Imaging Society, the organization consisting of more than 1,800 professional members in over 20 countries around the world, whose task is to advance the creative arts and sciences of stereoscopic 3D and 4K.

The films will be judged by an international Jury, consisting of films industry members actively working with 3D and assisting different filmmakers in using the technology's numerous advantages in their projects.

In 1953, the ascent of Everest remained the last of Earth's great challenges. Standing at over 8840m, the world's highest mountain posed a fearsome challenge and had already claimed thirteen lives in previous expeditions. Faced with treacherous winds, sub-zero temperatures and battling altitude sickness, Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay finally achieved the impossible and became the first men to stand atop Everest. It was an event that stunned the world and defined an era. Beyond the Edge is a tale of human endurance, tenacity and courage in the face of overwhelming odds to reach the highest point on Earth.

“If buildings could talk, what would they say about us?”
Cathedrals of Culture offers six responses. This 3D film project about the soul of buildings allows six iconic and very different buildings to speak for themselves, examining human life from the unblinking perspective of a manmade structure. Six acclaimed filmmakers bring their own visual style and artistic approach to the project. Buildings, they show us, are material manifestations of human thought and action: the Berlin Philharmonic, an icon of modernity; the National Library of Russia, a kingdom of thoughts; Halden Prison, the world's most humane prison; the Salk Institute, an institute for breakthrough science; the Oslo Opera House, a futuristic symbiosis of art and life; and the Centre Pompidou, a modern culture machine. Cathedrals of Culture explores how each of these landmarks reflects our culture and guards our collective memory.

A nation of genetically evolved, intelligent apes led by Caesar is growing in numbers. The dictatorship of the apes is threatened by a band of humans from San Francisco who managed to survive the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. In order to continue living, they need to gain access to the hydroelectric dam located in the nearby forest, which is inhabited by apes. Both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

A mixture of fantasy and drama. Present for You is the name of a sham company that sells health food. This is where the main protagonist’s, Shigeru Kajiwara’s, adventures begin. At one point he receives a million yen, and next his boss tells him to clean up Japan. Apart from the plot there is an interesting setting: the seat of another company is located at the top of a mammoth building.

A story about growing up, based on a book by Reif Larsen. 10-year-old T.S. Spivet, a boy with a mathematical mind and a wild imagination, struggles to communicate with his siblings and parents. When he is honoured with an award for creating a perpetual motion machine, he runs away from home to attend the award ceremony in Washington, D.C. As he travels across the country by freight train, T.S. must learn what life is, while coming to terms with some of his family’s dark secrets.
