21st Edition of CAMERIMAGE - The International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematograpy is being held between 16th and 23rd Nov in the City of Bydgoszcz, and will turn into the world's film capital, hosting outstanding filmmakers and industry representatives, showing their latest international film productions.


TVP is also one of the producers of the brand new Andrzej Wajda's film - Wałęsa. Man of Hope, premiered at the 70th Venice Film Festival this year. After the successful Autumn festival run around the world (the film was shown, among others, in Toronto, Busan, Rio de Janeiro, London, Ghent, Mar del Plata, and Chicago, where it got the Best Actor Prize), Wałęsa. Man of Hope is running for the Academy Award® as the Polish official submission.

From the beginning of November there is an ongoing series of the film's special presentations for the HFPA & AMPAS members taking place in LA, and it will commence with the Los Angeles Times Envelope Independent series' Special Screening on December 2nd at the Laemmle NoHo, when Mark Olsen will interview Robert Więckiewicz, starring in the leading role.

Earlier, the HFPA members talked also to Lech Wałęsa personally, asking him about the film, his life and the collaboration with Andrzej Wajda. Wałęsa mentioned that he didn't engage in the process of the filmmaking as he wished to “understand, get to know how the people like Andrzej Wajda think," and according to him the final result reveals “a great idea of a great artist."

Sławomir Idziak (Black Hawk Down, Three Colors: Blue) will receive Lifetime Achievement Award, this year's recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Directing will be Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In the Name of the Father), while Special Camerimage Award for a Production Designer with Unique Visual Sensitivity was already given to Rick Carter (Avatar, Lincoln). John Turturro (Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski) came to Bydgoszcz to collect the Special Camerimage Award for Actor-Director, the Award for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Music Videos will be handed to Samuel Bayer (music video for Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit, A Nightmare on Elm Street), while Roberto Schaefer and Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Quantum of Solace) will receive Cinematographer - Director Duo Award. The recipient of the Award for Outstanding Achievements in Documentary Filmmaking will be Joan Churchill (Juvenile Liaison, Aileen: Life & Death of a Serial Killer).

More than 300 films will be screened within several sections, including the brand new 3D Films Competition section. We should remember, that Camerimage is not only “made-to-go" movies, but also an opportunity to learn the tools used by professionals all over the world to create their celluloid and digital realities. Our workshops and seminars are led by the most prominent filmmakers, such as Chris Doyle, Sean Bobbitt or Rick Carter. Do not forget the cinematographers themselves. They are the artists often ignored by pop-culture, but annually attending Camerimage in great numbers, as true celebrities of this festival. They are accompanied by prominent set designers, editors, actors, directors, documentary filmmakers, producers and sound engineers, as well as other movie professionals.

Camerimage is a great adventure for all move fans - young and old alike, students, grown-ups, amateurs and professionals.
