PRIZEWINNERS OF FESTIVAL COMPETITIONS



MUSIC VIDEOS COMPETITION:

  • Best Music Video:
    Kora, “Zabawa w chowanego" (Game of Hide-and-Seek) - Cinematographer Marek Sanak; Director Bartłomiej Ignaciuk
    For the Best Video, the jury felt almost unanimously, that Kora Jackowska's video for "Zabawa W Chowanego" did an excellent job of visually contributing to communicating an important socially relevant message. An ambition which goes far above and beyond the scope of most videos, and we congratulate the film makers for their successful efforts and effective use of the medium.

  • Best Cinematography:
    How to Destroy Angels, “The Space Between" - Cinematographer Greig Fraser; Director Rupert Sanders
    For Best Cinematography in a video, our jury has found Greig Fraser's photography on the "The Space Between" video by How To Destroy Angels to be the perfect synthesis of sound and image. More than any other, this video looks like it sounds, and the only word to describe that is cinematographic perfection.

    STUDENT FILMS COMPETITION:

  • Bronze Tadpole Award
    The 2010 Plus Camerimage Bronze Tadpole Award goes to the cinematographer Johan Holmquist for the film Bekas.

  • Silver Tadpole Award
    The 2010 Plus Camerimage Silver Tadpole Award goes to cinematographers Phillip Haberlandt & Jens Hallman for the film St. Christophorus: Roadkill.

  • Golden Tadpole Award
    The 2010 Plus Camerimage Golden Tadpole Award goes to cinematographer Jakub Giza for the film I Won't Be Here Tomorrow.

    EUROPEAN ADVERTISING COMPETITION:

    The jury recognizes the advertisements that in an unconventional way invited the viewer to take advantage of the funding sources, were based on interesting creative concepts, and used professional resources.

  • Winner in the low-budget productions category:

    The Marshal's Office of the Swiętokrzyskie Voivodship     for European Funds Build Our Future. The ad described the regional master plan for the Swiętokrzyskie Voivodship for the years 2007-2013.

  • Winner in the high-budget productions category:

    Ministry for Regional Development     for Good News for a Good Beginning. The ad described how to obtain information about the funding sources within the European Community budgets.

    SHORT DOCUMENTARY FILMS COMPETITION:

  • Honorable Mention:
    For its interpretation of the non-fiction form to expand cinematic language, and its beautifully rendered cinematic portrayal, the Honorable Mention Award goes to Marek Septimus Wieser for Out of Love.

  • Discovery Networks Central Europe Award:
    For its originality and poetic portrayal of its subject, the Discovery Award goes to Jaro Valko for Arsy Versy.

  • Grand Prix Golden Frog Award:

    For its sensitively observed and composed cinematography, for its consistency of style and tone, and the intimacy with which the camera approaches its subject matter, the Golden Frog Award goes to Piotr Stasik for The Last Day of Summer.

    DOCUMENTARY FEATURE FILMS COMPETITION:

  • Honorable Mention:
    It is a film whose exquisite composition captures the starkness and beauty of the Indian desert and the effect of technology on the subject's livelihood. The Documentary Feature Films Competition Honorable Mention goes to cinematographer Pau Mirabet for the film Letters from the Desert (Eulogy to Slowness).

  • Discovery Networks Central Europe Award:
    This film affected us on a visceral level. We were moved by this unforgettably resilient and principled family who were up against a tyrant and his thugs. The Discovery Networks Central Europe Award goes to cinematographer Andrew Thompson for the film Mugabe and the White African.

  • Grand Prix Golden Frog Award:
    It is a courageous film with an acute sense of immediacy. Its cinematography seamlessly reflects the harsh reality of combat and the futility of this war. The Documentary Feature Films Competition Grand Prix Golden Frog Award goes to cinematographers Tim Hetherington and Sebastian Junger for the film Restrepo.

    DIRECTORS' DEBUTS FILM COMPETITION:

  • Award for the Director

    The jury was unanimous in voting for this film. The award for debut director in a full-length feature film goes to David Michôd for Animal Kingdom.

    CINEMATOGRAPHERS' DEBUTS FILM COMPETITION:

  • Award for the Cinematographer

    The award for debut cinematographer in a full-length feature film goes to Adam Arkapaw for Animal Kingdom.

    POLISH FILMS COMPETITION:

  • Golden Frog Award: Little Rose
    This film told the most profoundly involving story. The woman at its heart dramatizes a half century of Polish history purely by being herself. The camera-work served this complicated tale by never distracting its viewers with technical bravura, leading us to feel what we were seeing. The Polish Film Competition Golden Frog Award goes to Little Rose, photographed by Piotr Wojtowicz and directed by Jan Kidawa-Błoński.

    MAIN COMPETITION:

  • Bronze Frog Award: Buried
    This film presents ingenious and surprising solutions to a desperate situation. The 2010 Plus Camerimage Bronze Frog Award goes to the cinematographer Eduard Grau for the film Buried.

  • Silver Frog Award: Silent Souls
    This is an elegiac, simple, and moving film. The 2010 Plus Camerimage Silver Frog Award goes to the cinematographer Mikhail Krichman for the film Silent Souls.

  • Golden Frog Award: Venice
    The jury found the film accomplished, impressionistic, atmospheric and extremely well-crafted. The 2010 Plus Camerimage Golden Frog Award goes to the cinematographer Arthur Reinhart for the film Venice.
